Crowds come out for Memorial Day - and fishin’

-A A +A

Hope everyone’s Memorial Day was a safe success. The town was full. It seemed like just a step or two under a festival. The water ways, the streets and the sidewalks were busy.
Me and Capt. Nick stayed in town to cut back on pulling the boat all around. We had double booked both days. We also had a friend/ client’s family in town for his 60th birthday. And his exact words were, “ Cedar Key and fishing with Capt. Danny is my favorite thing to do”.
Well, we had lots of folks involved so we kinda boat rode and fished a ‘lil. But all in all, it was a successful weekend. We had a slower bite than lately with our trout, it was a work-and-grind kinda bite. It worked out in the end, but it was slow to get kicked off at times. I, like most, are hoping this rain will help the redfishing. It could lower our salinity levels and maybe bring some fish to the surface, so to speak. I know I am ready for them to just pop up and say, “Here we are”. Well, let’s leave it at that for now.
Next week I hope to have a tarpon picture to break the story with. Until then – be safe and stay salty.
