“I can see that what I’ve been worrying about has happened,” said Commissioner Gene Hodges, sitting as a board member for the Community Redevelopment Agency. “Our budget’s been cut.”

News at the CRA budget workshop was grim for festivals seeking grants. CRA Director Greg Lang presented a drafted budget to the board Monday night, and due to financial restraints, the line item for festivals was left blank.

“Right now, there is only about $9,000 unallocated,” Lang said. “Its going to be highly competitive if the board decides to fund (any festivals) at all.”

The CRA Board set the date for all festival grant applications to be filed with the city on or before Sept. 3. The application can be obtained at CRA office located in City Hall.

The CRA budget will be discussed at next CRA meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18 held immediately following the city commission meeting.
