On Saturday, Sept 22, Cedar Key Lions members and volunteers commemorated its sixth year of Adopt-A-Highway trash pick-up along the two miles of Hwy. 24 leading to the No. 4 Bridge. Lions’ coordinator Rory Brennan said, “In our first six years, the Lions have collected an estimated 1.32 tons of trash along our adopted stretch of Hwy. 24. We’ve noticed that the littering along the highway is diminishing year by year, a hopeful sign that visitors and residents are becoming more aware of how littering adversely affects the beauty and delicate ecology of our Cedar Keys.” Pictured at the event, from left: Frank Molitor, Judy Duvall, Marve Franks, Roland Senecal, Lannie Cardona, Dick Wescott, Sarah Cardona, Debbie Franks, Susan Hollandsworth and Faye Sanders.
