TDC to meet
The Levy County Tourist Development Council will be holding its bi-monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan 26, at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.
The meeting is open to the public.

Citrus County Fair truck, tractor pulls
The 13th Annual Truck and Tractor Pull, sponsored by the Citrus County Fair Association will be at the fairgrounds in Inverness, located at 3600 S. Florida Ave. (U.S. Hwy. 41 South).
There will be pulling each day for trucks and tractors of all sizes, including garden tractors. There will be a junior tractor race each day. There will be plenty of food for sale and camping is also available.
The event will be held rain or shine with three sleds pulling in the covered arena.
Advance tickets are available at the Citrus County Fair Office, the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce offices in Crystal River and Inverness. Tickets at the gate are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-11.
All proceeds are awarded as scholarships for Citrus County youth.

Gala benefits schools, scholarships
The Levy County Schools Foundation gala featuring a dinner, silent auction, door prizes and entertainment by county students will begin at 6 p.m. at Chiefland Elementary School. Doors open at 5:30.
Tickets for the annual event are $50 per person. Sponsorships are also available — Gold Patrons are contributors who give $1,000 each and receive eght tickets to the Gala; Silver Patrons are donors who give $500-$999 to the Foundation and receive four tickets; and Bronze Patrons who donate $250-$499 to the foundation and receive two tickets.

FOL schedule events
The Cedar Key Friends of the Library have the following events scheduled:
- Silent Film Festival: Three Ages, starring Buster Keaton and Wallace Beery with Jesse Beller on the keyboard will be shown on Thursday, Feb 9, at 7 p.m., upstairs in the Library.
- Valentine's Day Flower Sale: Monday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 1-2 p.m. near the post office.
- Used Book Sale: Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1-2 p.m. behind the Library.
Butterflies in refuge topic of talk
Barbara Woodmansee will give a presentation about the butterflies in the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Key Library. The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge.
Using her extensive collection of photos from the Refuge, she will focus on the families of butterflies in the refuge. Barbara will provide tips on how to distinguish different species and how to locate them. She will also distinguish the difference between day-flying moths and butterflies. Barbara will bring a check list for folks interested in recording their sightings of butterflies.
Book Club to meet
THE BOOK BUNCH will meet on Monday, Feb. 13, at 1:30 p.m., at the Cedar Key Library’s top floor meeting room. Tatiana de Rosnay’s “Sarah’s Key” will be discussed. Subsequent books include: Geraldine Brooks’ “March for the month of March”; and Jane Smiley’s “The All True Travels and Adventures of Lidie Newton” for April.
Lion’s Valentine’s Dinner and Dance
The annual Lion's Club Valentine's Dinner and Dance will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. at the Community Center.
Cost is $25 per person. Dinner will be catered by The Island Room Restaurant and feature live music by The Dock Street Band. A silent auction will also be held.
Dinner menu consists of: garden salad with buttermilk herb dressing, fresh baked rolls, Fruit de Mer (fresh seafood in a hearty tomato sauce), beef brisket, baked Mahi-Mahi, roasted new potatoes, steamed vegetables and desserts.
Tickets are available from any Lion's Club member.
Summer Arts benefit dinner
The 2012 Children’s Summer Art Program Benefit Dinner, sponsored by The Cedar Key Arts Center, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m., upstairs at the Art Center.
The dinner will be a three course gourmet dinner created by The Island Room. The cost is $25 per person and includes beverage, tax and tip.
There will also be a raffle of original art and other fun items.
