December workshops

The Cedar Key Arts Center has two upcoming workshops.

• Dec. 7: Mosaic Glass and Sterling Pendant with Valerie Bretl, contact ; cost $25 for members, and $30 for non-members.

• Dec. 9: Holiday Mini Projects Party from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. which will feature various artists doing demos of their work with make and take items.

Snacks to share. Hot chocolate, tea or coffee provided. This is your opportunity to make something unique. Free to all.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 10

 

SRWMD to meet

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Suwannee River Water Management District’s Governing Board will meet at 9 a.m. at District Headquarters, 9225 CR 49, Live Oak, FL 32060. The meeting is to consider District business and conduct public hearings on regulatory, real estate and other various matters. A workshop will follow after the Governing Board meeting. A copy of the agenda may be obtained by visiting the District’s website at www.mysuwanneeriver.com.

All meetings, workshops and hearings are open to the public.

 

 

Saturday, Dec. 14

 

Free Family Hunts coming up

The Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge is offering a free Family Hunt, Dec. 14-22. This is a unique opportunity for youth to hunt along with their adult mentor. The adult and up to two youths, under 16, can hunt the Refuge together with the free Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge permit.

It can be obtained online at  by clicking on “Hunting,” then click “Virtual Hunt Brochure” or by calling the Refuge at 352-493-0238.

One doe tag, per party, can be signed-out during the week of Dec. 9-13 at Refuge headquarters near Fowler’s Bluff, on CR 347, from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. The hunt begins on Friday, Dec. 14 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 22.

It’s a great time to get out on your Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge and enjoy a Florida tradition. For more information call the Refuge at 352-493-0238.

Zumba offered twice a week

Zumba Fitness with Sarah Beth will be offered at the Cedar Key Community Center, 809 6th Street. This program is designed for everyone - all ages, sizes and fitness levels. Operation PETSNIP
