UMC Women's bazaar

The Cedar Key United Methodist Women hold their Annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cedar Key United Methodist Church on State Road 24. There will be a cookie sale and walk with $8, $6 and $4 boxes. There will also be crafts, baked goods and more for sale.

Lunch will be stew, chili, cornbread, dessert and drinks. Donations will be welcome.

Dog parade

There will be a Dog Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14 in Cedar Key, the same day as the boat parade. Dress your pooch (and yourself) in your holiday finest to walk the streets of Cedar Key.

The Parade will begin in front of the Chamber of Commerce at 4 p.m. and will proceed down C Street to Dock Street and then on to the park. There will be prizes for the best dressed pooch.  


Free Family Hunts coming up

The Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge is offering a free Family Hunt, Dec. 14-22. This is a unique opportunity for youth to hunt along with their adult mentor. The adult and up to two youths, under 16, can hunt the Refuge together with the free Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge permit.

It can be obtained online at  by clicking on “Hunting,” then click “Virtual Hunt Brochure” or by calling the Refuge at 352-493-0238.

One doe tag, per party, can be signed-out during the week of Dec. 9-13 at Refuge headquarters near Fowler’s Bluff, on CR 347, from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. The hunt begins on Friday, Dec. 14 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 22.

Zumba offered twice a week

Zumba Fitness with Sarah Beth will be offered at the Cedar Key Community Center, 809 6th Street. This program is designed for everyone - all ages, sizes and fitness levels.
