World War II veterans meet
All World War II Veterans are invited to meet Thursday, Dec. 8 at 11:30 a.m. in Cedar Key at the Island Room at the Cedar Cove Beach & Yacht Club.
Once again, there will be a Toys For Tots box to fill, or if you wish, you may make a donation to our Soldiers Angels collection which goes to our men and women now serving our nation.
Hope to see you on Dec. 8. Bring your spouse, a fellow veteran or care giver and join the camaraderie. We may even sing a few Christmas Caroles.

Holiday Light at the light station
On Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Cedar Keys Light Station will be open for a bright holiday event, “Holiday Light”. There will be period-dress interpreters, refreshments and holiday season photo opportunities. Special-value holiday prices will be offered by tour boats. Join us for this special one-time event.
Methodist Women Holiday Bazaar
The Cedar Key Methodist Women will host its Holiday Bazaar Saturday, Dec. 10, at the church located on 4th and SR 24. Baked goods, crafts and cookie walk will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is also available: choice of beef stew or chili for $10. Kids 12 and under, $6.
Calling all plant enthusiasts: Come to a presentation about the ornamental and wild spiny and thorny plants in Levy County.
A few spiny insects and caterpillars to watch out for are included. Most thorny plants have beautiful flowers, to invite the bee pollinators, but not large grazing animals.

The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Key Public Library.
Book club to meet
The Book Bunch will meet on Monday, Dec. 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cedar Key Library's top floor meeting room. Nancy Horan’s “Loving Frank” will be discussed. Subsequent books will be selected at this December meeting.
Community Night in Cedar Key
Spend the evening out by watching the boats of Cedar Key decorated and lit as they follow a water course around the back of Dock Street. When the parade ends at City Park, visit with Santa Clam and enjoy a community-wide potluck. Bring a covered dish if you can. Eagles to celebrate Christmas
The Cedar Key Eagles will be hosting its annual Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 4 p.m. until.
The Eagles will be celebrating its 22nd year of "People Helping People". Side dishes and desserts are welcome.

Cedar Key Museum State Park

The third annual Festival of Trees event will feature a beautiful display of holiday greenery displayed by local non-profit organizations. The trees will be on display during museum hours of Thursday through Monday, 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. This event is free and visitors can vote for the favorite decorated tree. Please note there is a separate fee of $2 per person (free for children under six) to view the museum exhibits and the Whitman House. For more information, call (352) 543-5350.
Non-Fiction book club to meet
The Non-Fiction Book Bunch will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cedar Key Library's top floor meeting room.
Honey Dewdrops coming to Cedar Key
The Honey Dewdrops, a Blue Grass duo and winners of 2008’s "A Praire Home Companion" Talent Show, will be in Concert on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Cedar Key Community Center.
The event will be presented by the Cedar Key Friends of the Library and more details will be coming.
