“This is our 26th annual Spaghetti Dinner, and it promises to be the best ever,” said Jane Moore, President of the Cedar Key Woman’s Club.
Every year the Woman’s Club serves around 200 spaghetti dinners, and this is its biggest fund-raiser of the year.
Active in the community since 1960, the Cedar Key Woman’s Club supports many local projects, including the Food Pantry, the Library, Another Way Woman’s Shelter, LARC and the Cedar Key School. One of its ongoing projects, Support Our Troops, has sent hundreds of “Care Packages” to area men and women who are deployed overseas. This year, the group has embarked on a campaign to support Fisher House, the VA Hospital residence.
“It is the generosity of the public that makes all this possible,” said Moore.
The Spaghetti Dinner will be held at the Cedar Key Community Center on 6th Street, with dine-in or take-out both available, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Heritage recipes for the homemade spaghetti sauce, the salad, garlic bread, beverages and wonderful desserts are handed down as part of the Club’s tradition. Tickets, at just $10, are available from Curmudgeonalia, Pelican Realty and from members of the Cedar Key Woman’s Club.
